In this article Hip-hop Inc. Explains how hip-hop’s global success is as simple as “rap has roots”. They explain how rap exemplifies hundreds of years of oppression and decent. Rap is based not on rock, but on music of protest at historical levels. This characterizes the black experience in America, its songs are based on lifestyle rather than just musical lyrics. Artists like Elvis were some of the first to discover the “black sound”, this sparked an essential niche in the market. From one music scene to another the evolution of blues arose which then lead to pop and rock in the 50’s. Mowtown was arguably the first successful black recording studio, which gave more opportunities to African Artist. Rap was first seen in the Bronx, it was based off hundreds of years of black American music and thousands of years of its African predecessors. It is hard to judge the future impacts rap will have on our culture and economics, but hip hop is arguably one of the most creative new art forms in the last few decades. After analyzing the history of rap one can see that rap and rock have lots in common thought rap isn’t solely based of rock. We now see that the Rap “Tycoons” are no longer just performers, but business men as well. Also, kids are listening to music more and more because these “Tycoons” have influences musics popularity because we see it more and more in advertisements.
